I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendour into it. On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. The glory and honour of the nations will be brought into it.
Revelation 21:22-26
From this morning’s Lectio 365 devotional:
“John could not see a temple in the city because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb were the temple, and the light of their presence wasn’t just somewhere, but everywhere. What if people where I live couldn’t see the church structures because the presence of God in God’s people wasn’t just somewhere, but everywhere . . . illuminating every school, every shopping mall, every office and every factory, every local neighbourhood? This sounds a little bit like heaven to me.”
Lord Jesus, help me to play my part, to shine the light that You have put inside me wherever I am today. Amen.
