American mission worker and hymn writer Fanny Crosby wrote this Easter Carol:
“Oh, the gladness and the glory
Of the tender Easter story,
Christ is risen! Christ is risen!
Do you hear the angels say?
All the bells triumphant ring it,
All the choirs celestial sing it,
And the gentle zephyrs wing it
Thro’ the skies this sacred day.
Oh, the wondrous transformation,
Working out the world’s salvation!
Christ, the crucified Redeemer,
Once consigned to darkest gloom,
Changing shadow into splendor,
With His love so sweet and tender,
Son of God, our true defender,
Rising deathless from the tomb.
Oh, the light of Easter morning,
All the earth and sky adorning!
Oh, how restful, how refreshing
Is its sacredness and love!
On my heart its peace is stealing,
Like a gentle balm of healing,
Christ, my risen Lord, revealing,
Throned in majesty above.“
Here is an excerpt from this morning’s Lent Project devotional by Oscar Merlo :
“Today all over the world a diverse Christian community from all backgrounds, and races are celebrating the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. By faith we together affirm that Jesus is Risen and is alive. As a community we sing the songs of resurrection in the Church, we give voice to poetry, and contemplate the beauty in art which expresses that “He is Risen.” The resurrection reminds us that Jesus is Christus Victor over the evil power of the world, and has given us victory over all our circumstances. As the rays of the sun break through the windows, so is resurrection hope and joy breaking through our dead things today!”
Here is an Easter prayer:
Father God, thank You that you gave your only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. He is risen! I am risen! Hallelujah!
Jesus, You are the Living One; You were dead, and now look, You are alive for ever and ever! And behold, You are making all things new. You are risen! I am risen! Hallelujah!
Holy Spirit, thank You that You, the same spirit that raised Christ Jesus from the dead lives in me today, giving life to my mortal body. He is risen! I am risen! Hallelujah!
